The Pleiades lie near the shoulder of Taurus, the largest constellation to the right of Orion's belt. Each of them is a hundred times more luminous than the Sun. It is possible to see at least six of these stars with the naked eye from any point on the globe. Because of its variable brightness (which still remains unexplained), the seventh star is not always visible. Some people with exceptional eyesight would be able to see (without the help of a telescope) up to 20 stars in this constellation which has nearly 1000!
